Ghosting to Victory

An emphatic day with emphatic victories for Ferryhil U11's and Man Utd pummelling the Mags 4-1. Never in it, but that's not what we're here to talk about.

It was good to watch some proper football played in the surreal surroundings of the Nuclear Power Station at Hartlepool, with the controversial "Ghost Ships" looking on.

After a very poor start and with Greatham gaining a early lead and going 3-0 up with some in your face football Ferryhill managed to pull it back to 3-1 by the half time whistle. A rousing half time team talk by the Feryhill coach saw a transfromed team come out in the second half and get straight into Greatham with a quick goal to give them hope.

Before long Ferryhill had it back to 3-3 and the pivotal moment came when Alex Mitton playing in central midfield saw a ball come to him, and shaping up to go for goal, had the defenders ducking only to play a ball to his right to get his little mate in on goal and 4-3 to Ferryhill.

Greatham heads went down after that killer goal and try as they might couldn't get another back and allowing Ferryhill to bag 2 more to go and win 6-3, with 5 second half goals.

Superb.
A great performance..

Yes, it was a great win by the Ferryhill lads but far too much tension for the watching dads. Huyton was by far the coolest person there and had time to admire the seals (two headed?) reclining on the sands.
Got home to watch the second half of the Sunderland game and that was another tense affair but I think we did to win the game. Shame about the late equaliser but a draw was a good result and I think will just about do us. Another couple of wins will do us but possible that a win and a draw will suffice if the others slip up.

Billy

A great morning, most enjoyable and almost as good as the bacon sandwich served up by your goodly wife.

With one eye on next week, my claculations are that a SAFC win against leicester with Ipswich losing to leeds would see SAFC automatically promoted. Right or wrong?

I've consulted my football statistician (our Alex) who has checked your calculations and confirmed they are correct.
If we can win at home vs Leicester we're almost home and dry - it's time for Ipswich to be worried now faced with a tough away game at Leeds
