Frustrating

My first World Cup post and England continue to frustrate me to hell.

Joe Cole turns in a superb first half, scores a cracking goal to give us the lead then disappears in the second half. Frustrating!

Defensively we did well in the first half and never really looked threatened. What happened in the second half? Frustrating.

Owen Hargreaves broke the play up really well, but when sitting behind a midfield four and in front of a defensive four in the second half went missing. Frustrating.

Rarely did we get wide enough to get any decent deliveries into Crouch. Frustrating.

Still we win the group, we avoid the Germans ( though why people should worry about them is beyond me) and meet the more unpredictable Ecuadorians.

Gilligan returns soon and we'll get the low down.

Jack,

Top teams will get stronger as the competition goes on. In my opinion, England will beat Ecuador, no doubt of that. Bear into account they just beat Costa Rica(?) and Poland(?)..So, if tomorrow Argentina lose to Holland, there might be another England v. Argentina in the quater-finals..

Fundamental problem - Sven picked the wrong squad, so limiting his options to change the team to deal with injuries and loss of form.

Who in their right mind would take such an unbalanced squad full of wannabee midfielders and defenders but short of strikers?

I think our tournament will end on Sunday!

Are you his butler like Steven? Surely he'll find time to pop into the club for a few liveners and regale the locals with tales of derring-do at the World Cup. i bet it's been quiet with him being away. I still haven't see the infamous Black Pearl pics yet, never mind a World Cup report.

Brilliant - I bet he's got some tales to tell!
I hope he doesn't spend too much on our presents.
