At first I was afraid, almost petrified,

Kept thinking back to how bad we were with a Premier side,

But then I spent a couple nights, thinking how well Mick has done,

With so few funds, how many tricky games he’s won,

And so we’re back, we’re premier league,

And while the mags go out of Europe we’re the pride of the north-east,

Our fans don’t smash phone boxes up, and our players don’t take a fit,

They don’t even fight each other and they’re not completely shit,

And so we’re back, where we belong,

Been through a lot but, we’re still 30 thousand strong,

All of the pundits thought that we might not return,

Have they forgotten, or do they simply never learn,

We’re Sunderland, the red and whites,

And we’re never gonna be kept down, we’re always gonna rise,

And we’ve got lots of games to play, and we’ve got lots of points to gain,

But we’ll survive, we will survive,

It took all the strength we had not to fall apart,

Semi’s of playoffs and the cup left us with broken hearts,

And we left after both those games just feeling sorry for ourselves,

Of course we cried, but now we hold our heads up high,

And you see us, top of the league,

Ready to beat the Middlesbrough, Mags, Man U, Chelsea,

Arsenal, Villa, Bolton too, we’ll win away at Liverpool,

And then we’ll win the champions league when we play Juve at Camp Nou,

And so we’re back, where we belong,
