Sunderland A.F.C., my passion...

This is something i decided to write some months ago to express my passion for S.A.F.C

“This is the team I support, the team I’ll always be with because fate wanted that way. Most chaps or fellow football fans, in my situation, would choose the easiest way when it comes to choosing a football team, i.e., be behind the likes of teams such as Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool or even Chelsea. These line up the best paid footballers, the best stars in the league, boast the biggest TV incomes per year… Money rules nowadays in all aspects of our daily life. Unfortunately is that way. I know that. So, any guy who is living so far from England, as I’m now, would follow any of the previously named sides. They win frequently; they celebrate titles more frequently”… BUT I DON’T HOLD THIS POINT OF VIEW BY ANY MEANS….

I’VE CHOSEN SAFC. The red and white stripes will be my” ID “forever when it comes to English Football. You’ll wonder why on earth I’ve chosen Sunderland?!?! That’s the very same questions many chaps ask me when they see me wandering about in the Sunderland shirt. Why did you choose that team? I always reply the same. “Well, you know, was a bit kind of love at first sight... What’s wrong with that?” Could have been other team, but (fortunately) was Sunderland that really drew my attention. What the heck””” Not always you find an answer for every question in life… This is one of those cases.

I have to admit it. It’s quite hard to support Sunderland across the Atlantic Ocean, 16,000 km away from the United Kingdom, especially when we talk about match broadcastings for instance. These last two season, we’ve had First Division Status. We don’t deserve that anymore. No tv channel is to be found showing this our games. In the old days, when we’re a Premiership club all was different for me. Channel 19 mainly, showed Sunderland games very often. That’s why I hope we get promotion as soon as possible to watch The Lads again LIVE.
Those days were terrible for me since I’m not a good radio listener. That’s why, I had no more chance than stay logged to live score websites and even join metro radio to learn the latest. Subscribe SAFC World in out of question for me now, I can’t afford it because the convertion of pounds into pesos. I’ve managed to be with the team though.

Now I have only one wish in mind; I want Sunderland BACK to the topflight. We can’t be rubbing shoulders wit h likes of Gillingham or Rotherham. And this is a task everyone connected with the club must carry out: from the players going through the Board to the very fans(I’d like to highlight the support of the fans.. unparallel supports the whole season.). We all must be united; the players giving their 101% effort on the pitch, the Board taking wisest decisions and the fans… well, what else can I ask to the fans?!?! They’ve been terrific.

Ha’way the lads!!!!!!!!!!!!

Walter from Moreno in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Walter lad, that is an excellent post.

It sums up the passion you have for the team and hopefully that passion will be rewarded with Premiership football very soon.

Walter,
Just to add to Jack's note. When I read your message your passion and loyalty to SAFC comes out leaps and bounds from your posting. Yes you are right some people live behind teams that they "support" alot of them via an armchair and remote control and never see their team live. I bet if you lived close by Sunderland you would never miss a match home or away. You would put some of our "supporters" to shame as alot of them drifted away when the glory days came and went. Some sadly never to return .... until next season if we make it to the Premiership. It will be interesting to see the attendances next year.

Well said Jim and Mel, good to see we all have a passion for the red and whites.

If you lads want Walts email address or home address then see me. However I must warn you postage to Argentina is quite expensive and may take a while to get there. Everything I've sent Walter as always arrived, it just takes its time. British Airways, Aerolinas Argentinos, Lufthansa, Air France and Iberia can get the post there the day after but the Srgentine Post office takes it's time.

Seriously though if you wish contact mail me and I'll provide you with address
