Question: Is 2-0 the worst score in football?

Most gaffers or even people connected with football agree with this view. They claim 2-0 is the worst score in football, that is, it's either easy for the opposition to come back in the game or perhaps you slot the 3rd and that's it!

In spite of all this, according to Velez's last performance, i can assure you it's been the worst score in a long time. Yesterday, we're beating Boca away. First half whistle and we're up 2-0. Full time whistle and we ended down 3-2... How the hell can I explain it!?!?!?

Opinion piece
1-Is 2-0 one of the worst scores in football?
2-Which was one of the hardest defeats you exeperienced as a football fan?

Why must you ask such difficult questions?

Only if you're Watford........ and Velez of course.

Bloody hell Walter, as a Sunderland supporter I could write pages and pages on 'hardest defeats'.

A couple come to mind, both vs the Mags.
1. It was when Keegan was in charge and we were both in the old 2nd Division. The Mags got their season off to a flying start and had won their first 8 or 9 games in a row. We played them in October and I was CONVINCED we were going to beat them. It was a Sunday lunchtime game with the unwashed inbreds in the Roker End. They beat us with a Liam O'Brien thunderbolt. I was CONVINCED we were going to win!
2. The other one was when they beat us in the last derby game at Roker Park. No Mags supporters allowed but they beat us - an eery silence when they scored.
3. Gillingham in the play-offs
etc
etc

As for worst scores .... ??? Dunno but last minute goals against are not good!

One that always springs to mind in recent years was the first season in the SOL. Good Friday, pissing down, freezing cold versus QPR, 1-0 up we lost 1-2 with both goals from Mike Sheron. I remain convinced to this day that had we won that then we would not have had to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune at Wembley later in the season.

Yeah, I remember that one well Huyton. We were all 'up for it' and thought we just had to turn up for the win but we lost after which we had loads of games to play in a short period and missed automatic promotion and ended up in the play-offs. Wasn't there a game later in the season when we played WBA at home and lost to a last minute goal. If we'd won that game we still had a chance of automatic promotion ......or am I getting confused with another season?

Aye Billy, looking back at the QPR game we were acrually 2-0 uo( both Quinn) with 15 minutes to when Sheron scored his two. So maybe Walter is right, 2-0 is a bad score.

Can't find reference to the WBA game that season but we did have a poor run in.

I think maybe the WBA game was another season.

Billy, would it be this season you were thinking off

The year Jeff Whitley thought he was Thierry Henry and tried to chip the Palace Keeper from the penalty spot. Lost at home 1-0 to WBA when it would have kept us in with a shout of automatic promotion.
