Hillsbrough April 1992, just stood through the longest final minute ever with the manager of the Fishburn Shed of Light, The ex Landlord of the Red Lion, My brother, and my mate Quinny. I'd shook the hand of Bob Stokoe earlier in the day on Penistone Road. It is of course the smi final of the 1992 FA Cup and we have just beaten Norwich 1-0 with a goal scored by john Byrne , from a move started by David Rush that led to a cross from Brian Atkinson that led to a header from JB & the rest is history.
Althought the properties of the photo suggest it is escaping relegation, It looks like the 91/92 season and Iknow we were struggling but I don't think we were in a relegation battle, we were already in Div 2 as it was then. We were relegated the season before having gone up after the Swindon carry on.
I'm probably a million mile out but I know my history even if it doesn't match the picture.
Second attempt right Huyton, escaping relegation Ithink 1992??? we didnt win but results went right for us not sure if Notts county were involved not really sure but well done anyway..
1992 / 93 season Mel. Escaped the drop to Divison 2 by 1 point.
That was the year keegan took over at Newcastle and they went on the run that saw the win 11 ? straight games at the start of the season.
We finished mid table the year after, 4th bottom the year after that then Reid took over.
Brilliant I couldnt argue with that, 10-out of ten i reckon
Aye yer right Mel, played Notts County the last game of the season and we lost 3-1
