Coldplay

Back in November the kids bought me a ticket for my birthday to go and see Coldplay at Newcastle Arena last night.

Final night of the Twisted Logic tour and we were not disappointed. Absolutely superb are the two words that sum it up. Great audience participation, excellent banter from Chris Martin and quality music. What made it even better was the appearance of Chris Martin just 10 feet to our left during " In your place". What made it even worse was the battery on my camera had run out.

Richard Ashcroft, fromerly of the Verve supported Coldplay and he too was superb, playing a quartet of classics from Urban Hymns, Sonic, The drugs Don't Work, O Lucky Man and Bitter Sweet symphony.

Got some photos but not to the usual standard but will see what is worth posting later.

Reminds me of some moons ago when me and Mrs Gilligan were in London and took in the Royal tournament. Her majesty Queen Elizabeth was in attendance - must have known we were turning up!
Well at the end of the show and as the Queen was leaving she got within about three feet of me and MrsG (this was way before any security threats etc so all was pretty informal) Well I reached for my camera (not digital as these were not invented them) and guess what just like you Huyton my batteries had ran out. So as I tried to take the Queens picture and not knowing the camera was dead I took the photo and upon realising the camera was dead I said something like Oh F***ing hell. Not sure if she heard this but one of the coppers did.
So I know how you felt Huyton but if you had swore at Coldplay you had no chance of being sent to the tower where I was very lucky.

Jimmy, if only 'the authorities' knew about all your escapades you'd have been incarcerated (means 'locked up' - for any Kella Lads looking in) years ago!

So how is the 'import for personal use' tobacco scheme going? Been a bit in the papers recently about people being pulled at customs with excessive amounts of cigs (92,000!) and having them confiscated (taken away - KL). I'm sure if it was you that you'd talk your way out of it! Any truth in the rumour that Mels honeymoon was sponsored by Rothmans?

Well Billy, I'm sure your comment about authorities has put paid to that!

Latest on that front - 4,500 in last week - only problem was I landed Friday night and baggage didn't.
Waited until Sunday afternoon until they arrived by courier - not sure if it would have been HM Customs!
Anyway all safely on their way to all the cancerous folk in Coxa.

4,500 sounds like a sensible amount to keep the customs at bay.

I've realised that I'm going to ALL 4 Sunderlands games over the New Year (you too Jimmy). We must be crackers - a minimum £250 outlay and only grief and unhappieness to show for it. After this I'm going to be much more selective about my away games and am only planning to go to a few (i.e. Man City away - never been to the new Stadium). TBH, I'm not looking forward to the home games either as all I can forsee is humiliation and certain defeat. How are the supporters going to get through the rest of the season with this team and set-up?

Billy,
Is Clive getting our tickets for the match at Fulham - I am not sure and the tickets are now on General sale.

Yes I think so (hope so) but it would be worth checking. I've asked him to get me an extra ticket for Alan Thirlaway who's coming up for the game so I believe he's aware we need tickets. As far as I'm aware there's only you amd I going this time - is that right? (please don't let Marie be going!)

To whoever anonymous is: Marie knows herself I dont like the way she lets herself down - I dont like having people say "she-devil" but its all banter and she wouldnt take it personally - at least I hope not!!

100% correct Ian, it's all banter and not to be taken personally! I'll now plead the fifth amendment and refrain from saying anything else so that I'd don't incriminate myself!!
I get plenty stress and conflict at work so purposely look to avoid it when at leisure - I hope we can all have a good day at Blackburn and come back with 3 points having enjoyed a harmonious and pleasant day with some good crack.

Whats with pulling posts?

Miller writes a good one about Coldplay at Bolton, Richard Ashcroft too, Billy puts his views up about away days then they disappear.

Explain?
