Disappointment for the bairns (and adults)
Following on from yesterdays QF victory our Alex's team, Ferryhill U11's, got beaten 1-0 in their semi final today. It was a close match, a classic game of two halves. Nunthorpe, a team from 2 divisions higher, were on top in the first half and managed a scrambled own goal (our defender went to clear it but it hit one of our players and rolled through the keepers legs) but in the second half Ferryhill took the game to them and bombarded their goal but we just couldn't score. Never mind, the lads played really well and were just beaten (let's hope the smoggy ***** get battered in the final!).
At the end a few of our lads (including our Alex) were in tears. They're just babies really and played their hearts out but we were all disappointed as we felt we could get through to the final.
Never mind, there's still 6 league games left and if we can do well in them we can still win the league so still plenty to play for.

Billy,
Sorry to hear about this defeat. One question - was there any fighting on the pitch?
No! Whilst is was an important match and some tension it was played in a good spirit of fairplay. At U11's, whilst the kids try and copy the professionals, it never gets nasty and is played fairly. I've watched a few of the older kids games (U15's) and they are a bit of a handful for the referee so I'm enjoying it while I can. As the kids get older they seem to become a bit more mouthy and dirtier so perhaps it won't be so enjoyable for the parents.
According to DP the parents get mouthier and dirtier the older the kids get.
