Arsenal

I think the Pompey game should be put behind us and we should be concentrating on our next match......which will of course be our last ever at Highbury......possibly our last one at Arsenal for while judging by our current plight....

But anyway, I am again looking forward to Saturday as London away games ALWAYS serve up a treat and we seem to enjoy the day out. Theres 10 of the "Miller Men" going this time so it should be a laugh if anything else.

I am thinking of taking it a bit more easy than the day we had at Chelsea (I bet you are too, Jim?) just the 3 or 4 tins on the train and a steady 4 or 5 before the game then I am going to be sensible and have some fish and chips with Brian.

We are due into London for 10.35am, I understand your train is a bit later - which pub are you lot going to? I've been told there is a few on Blackstock Road (?) just between Highbury Stadium and Finsbury Park

Miller,
Down south at present I will ask the Arsenal lot in the office about the pub I know that is okay for home and away fans with a good chippie just outside. i think it's on the same road as you've metioned. Let you know on Wednesday when I am back home.

We are due in at Kings X for around 9.30 so lots of booze at the 24/7 club behind the KX station

Thre's a good pub one stop before the ground where most of the lads meet and a good chippie two doors away

Is it the same pub Jim?

I think the pub I drank in last few visits to Arsenal was the Highbury Barn on Highbury Grove about 10 minutes from the Ground and a decent chippy outside next to the outside drinking area.

Extract from web site for Arsenal pubs:-

Highbury Barn, Highbury Grove

The Barn has to be one of the best known Arsenal pubs. A huge pub with a conveniently positioned outdoors drinking area. Always popular, it¹s success got out of hand in 1998, when we won the title - half of North London was on the streets outside. After that day, the pub started to close early on Saturday evenings for a while and must have been the only pub seemingly try to reduce its customers. Back to normal now, the Highbury Barn is the classic Arsenal pub, and is an essential visit on a matchday.
