Blackburn v SAFC (re-arranged fixture)

Sunderland AFC’s postponed fixture against Blackburn Rovers has been rearranged for Wednesday 15th February 2006, kick off 8pm.

The original fixture was set to take place on Dec 28th 2005 but was called off due to the Ewood Park pitch being frozen.

Rovers officials offered their sincere apologies to Sunderland AFC and the Club’s travelling supporters following the late cancellation, the cause of which has since been confirmed as a leaking pipe in the Ewood Park undersoil heating system, which allowed the pitch to freeze during a particularly cold spell.

After discussions between officials from both Clubs, the Lancashire side will be providing free transport via coach from the Stadium of Light to Blackburn for Sunderland supporters for new date.

SAFC Chief Executive Peter Walker said: “This is a great gesture from Blackburn Rovers to our supporters and they do genuinely hope that as many fans as possible take advantage of the offer.”

Any supporter in possession of a valid match ticket can take advantage of the offer. Supporters must obtain a coach ticket in advance, no later than 5:30pm, Wednesday 8th February and are asked to call 0845 671 1973 or call into the Stadium of Light ticket office to do so.

Supporters are asked to arrive at the Stadium of Light for 1:30pm boarding. Only those in possession of a valid pass will be permitted to board the coaches and fans are reminded that alcohol is not permitted on any buses.

Buses will depart Ewood Park to return to the Stadium of Light as soon as possible after the final whistle.

Supporters unable to attend the rearranged fixture can obtain a full refund on the cost of their original ticket from the SAFC ticket office. Refunds must be applied for before February 15th.
