Rod Stewart - Live 2005

Rod Stewart in Concert Glasgow SECC 25th May 2005
As I mentioned in my posting about Liverpool I missed the match cos I took Mrs Gilligan to see Rod Stewart in Glasgow, part of her Christmas present.
Stayed at the Holiday Inn Express, West End of Glasgow well recommended as it is close to some good pubs and scran houses. After a good meal at 5.30pm we took a taxi to the SECC as it was peeing down and I mean peeing down. The place was a hit for me well set out with plenty of places to drink and eat. The house was full and Rod came on at 8.15pm with a host of songs from the Faces days to present time. He even informed us all what was going on in the game in Istanbul and also made reference to Celtic as the best team in the world which went down with mixed feelings in Glasgow! He then sang about 5 songs from his American Dream Album with songs from Louise Armstrong etc all from the 2nd world war time in America. He sang these well with a full orchestra to compliment him. Then it was back to Maggie May and Do Ya Think Im -Sexy etc - Mrs Gilligan was well enjoying her little bit self singing away and waving her arms in the air - don't know who she takes after! Then there were three final songs one of which was Sailing and the final one was from Braveheart and the whole place erupted with the Scottish Clans all going back to the wars with the English. Then it was lights on and off we go - 10.50pm a full 2.5 plus hours of good entertainment even though the Scottish flag waving got to me a bit.
Then it was outside into the rain and it was now worse than before. Got the train into central Glasgow - did as the locals did - didn't pay! Then it was off to the Walkabout until kicky out time of 1.00am and back to the hotel and hoping Mrs Gilligan would repay me for what she said was a great night out. No pictures or commentary on what went on in the hotel other than to say that she re-paid me!
