Brotton 2 Ferryhill 5

Our best player, Reece Woolley, has signed for Boro Acdemy this week so we faced Brotton without him. We sent off from Ferryhill a bit apprehensive as Brotton had given us a hard game at their place last season and although we beat them 6-1 in the first game of the season we knew it would be a tough game. Our gloom deepened as we approached Brotton as the east coast was blanketed in a shroud of sea fret. One of the lads in our car said Halloween must have come early and he expected to see ghosts on the pitch!
The game got underway and it was a tight first half and 1-1 at the break although we'd missed a number of good chances. The second half progressed and the score reached 2-2 and it was anybody's game but the Ferryhill lads dug deeps and ran out 5-2 winners with some great determination and good play. A great start to the season against our old rivals!!

Yes, thats Reece. It was an easy recommendation as Reece is an excellent player but Boro have had a good look at him and they've offered him a contract. Very pleased for Reece as he's a smashing lad as well as being an excellent player but Boro have nicked our best player!

Looks to me Billy that your lads have strength in depth and will young Reece be missed as much as you think?

By you have an eye for a player Billy lad.

Well do you remember Nathan, our left winger. He's always wanted to play in defence and with Reece going he's got his chance. Dynamite! Brilliant tackler and very quick. We didn't really miss Reece too much today with Nathan playing in central defence plus one of the reserves has stepped in and had a blinder on the left wing!
The side definitely has strength in depth and a winning mentality - early days but hopeful we can win something again this season.
Spraire lads away in the League cup next week.

Huyton, you kella lads have always been known to have an eye for the ladies as well as a good football player!

Yes, Nathan is very skillful and scored some 'wonder goals'last season. Has a great knack of popping up, just when you need him, with a goal. Hopefully he'll get forward a bit and chip in with some more this season.
